I got a new tattoo over the weekend. I decided to take my son Micah with me so i could talk to him about the significance of the tattoo i was getting. He also wanted to get the stencil of my tattoo put on. so here is some video we took and the pictures!

Sometimes when watching movies we forget that what we are seeing is not real life. This happens a lot with men who watch porn. They forget that what they are seeing on the screen is not real life it is not a real loving relationship. it is fake. Yesterday we drive back from Oregon. We went an hour out of our way to see mount saint helens. That was totally worth it. We got checked in to our hotel. Returned the rental car (almost got mugged ) and slept. Now it is time to fly home

Well Seattle it has been real. We have seen lots of cool things we saw the mountains, the space needle a wedding, Eli catch a garter, mount st helens, and many more cool things. This has been a great trip. Thanks for All the cool memories

On the seventh day we went to the Oregon beach it was beautiful. Cold, but beautiful oh and windy. We had a blast getting our feet we and then playing I. The sand. It was also fourth of July so we shot off fireworks. Now today we drive to Seattle and stay the night.

On the sixth day we drove from Seattle to lebanon Oregon. This should have been a 4 hour drive but we took a detour closer to the ocean and it took 8 hours. It was however fun. But when we got there we were ready to get out

Today was the wedding day. We also went to the space needle. That was fun. The kids had a blast. Rae woke up with a temp so we were not sure how she would do in the wedding. She did good. She started walking and stopped and julie had to help her down the isle but it was good. The. At the reception Eli caught the garter. All in all it was a great day. Now we are done in Seattle. We are going to Oregon for a few days

Today we got up and went to the market and saw the original Starbucks. Then we toured groundspeak the home of Geocaching.com. Then we had the wedding rehearsal and dinner. We went to a beautiful park on the water. Tomorrow is the wedding

So we stayed the night in walla walla at julies aunts. Then we moved on and drive back to seattle. This is a long drive but was good. Rae slept most of the way. We stopped in Yackama ( spelling?) and ate lunch at the burger ranch which if you look at the pictures on Facebook you will see was from the 70′s. The thing that made me laugh was the sign on the playground that said we strive to have the safest equipment for your kids and it clearly was not. Now we are in Seattle. Traffic is bad. But it is fun. Another new day. We are going to groundspeak. That is the home of Geocaching.com

On our second day we drove from ellensburg to walla walla. First we stopped at julies aunts cheese shop called cheese louise. It was a really good lunch. Then we went to their house. Had a fire and just hung out and told stories. It was a lot of fun. Now today we are heading back to Seattle. It will be a 5 hour drive but it will be fun. Hopefully Rae dosnt cry the whole way

So we drove to Chicago this morning and got to O’hare. Got threw security great no problems. The boys did great. Raggy cried during take off. And a little during the flight. Then again during landing. Over all this was a good flight.

Then we got our rental car. That was a mess. Then drove a little and ate dinner and then got to the hotel for the night. More driving in the morning. Make sure to check the pictures link for pictures

It is 6:15 am and julie and I are up making coffee. It is about time to leave. For seattle.

This past weekend we went to my sisters house in Port Byron Illinois and we found out that the antique store Antique Archaeology where the guys from American Pickers are from, was just across the river in LeClair IA so we had to go. and not to mention there was a geocache right there so we went. It is cool. it is a tiny little shop you walk in and there is a counter and some shirts and hats and things to buy. then you walk into the garage area and there are a few things in there. It is cool to see some of the things that you have seen on the show. Then you can walk upstairs and Danielle was up there Micah went right up to her and told her that “we watch this show” and she said “oh you do, do you like it?”. Ok guys if you are a geocacher i am sure you have you have heard people complain that they cant find cretin caches because they need special equipment like they cant find wherigo because they dont have a garmin that plays them or they cant find a new chrip cache (which is marked as a unknown cache anyway) because they dont have a garmin. Sometimes people say “they should ban LPC’s because they are lame. Guys if you dont like a kind of hide then dont find them. there are plenty of other caches out there to find. If there are not and there are only LPC’s then go place some.

I dont hear those same people complaining about scuba caches or mystery caches that they dont know how to solve. So i am not sure how this is any different. it still comes down to the fact that you dont have the right tools to find a cache. Oh well. Man or Woman up and create more caches of the kind you like. This hobby is so diverse. Let it be diverse!

Last Saturday night Julie and i were watching the news when we saw a news story about a tattoo shop in Elkhart that was donating all the proceeds from Sundays tattoos to Church Community Services Church Community Services is a faith-based interdenominational non-profit agency that assists people in crisis and empowers them to move out of poverty. Services include a client choice food pantry, emergency financial assistance, plus our Soup of Success Job and Life Skills Training Program which empowers women in poverty to make positive changes toward greater self-sufficiency. We also offer public education on poverty. We had been looking to get a tattoo with our kids names on it or something. So we both said to each other. That is an awesome idea. I have never seen a tattoo shop do that. That is about as far as it went.

Sunday we were sitting around watching a movie with our kids, I looked at Julie and said. “Man that is tempting. I really want to go get a tattoo”. I have three other tattoos Julie has none. So we started talking and decided to do it. We called Julie’s sister to come watch the boys. we just told her. we were going out for lunch or something. The boys didnt even know.

So we started designing what we wanted and came up with two stars and a heart with each initial in it. We both got it on our ankle.

The shop raised about $1,500 that day for Church Community Services. How amazing is that.

This weekend Geocaching.com celebrates 10 years of geocaching.Wow it has really been 10 years. Personally we have been caching for 7 Years. We started on July 28th 2003 (my birthday)

Looking back it has been a blast we have gone places that we would have never gone if it were not for geocaching. It has been a blast watching the kids find stuff and trade stuff, Even placing “caches” around the house with what ever they can get their hands on. Wow not only do i geocache but i spend a good amount of time talking about caching on the geocaching podcast. It is because of geocaching that I have this fun hobby of podcasting.

We started caching in 2003 and we are not the fastest cachers. As of this point we only have 444 finds. But then again we do it for the hunt and the memories not JUST the numbers.

This weekend we are attending a geocaching event and it should be a blast. There are several geocaching events across the US this weekend celebrating that 10 years ago President Clinton turned off selective availability and our GPSr went from 100m to 10 m in accuracy.

I was just reading threw james 3 this morning and it is such a good reminder. Last two weeks we are trying to be positive at work and just how hard that is. It is so easy to say something negative about someone. It is much harder to be the fresh water than the salt water

Julie is in California right now taking her sister to school. Then she is spending time with a family friend. She is only gone one week but wow it is strange how only 3 days into this trip and how much i miss her. It has been real good to be able to spend an extended time with the boys but strange how quickly i miss her and just how much i didnt realize just how much i love her untill she is not around every day. Sorry if i have taken you for granted julie. I love you.

It will be good to have her back but i am glad she had some time get rejuvenate

This new years was like no other for me. I realized i am getting old. I couldnt even stay awake to watch the ball drop. I fell asleep 5 min before the drop and woke up after. I was so disappointed. I have ALWAYS stayed awake.  But i got over it the next day. I have to apologize to my wife. I was mean to her when i woke up. 

Last night I was walking in to the store when i saw the redbox being serviced so i stopped and looked and took some pictures. they are kind of blurry but that is what you get when your trying to not get seen. Inside is a huge DVD carousel and a Dell computer running windows XP

I am reading threw Hosea right now. Wow. All I can say is wow. We normally think of God as a happy cheerful God. However it seems that if we rebel and reject him he gets mad and jealous. That is my small thought for the day

Last night Micah didnt want to go to sleep. He just kept playing around in his room. Finally he went to sleep. Then about 2:30 eli woke up and wouldnt go back to sleep. finally we moved him to our room floor and and after a while (about 3:30 he fell back asleep) Then about 4:30 Micah came in to our room and wanted to sleep in bed with us. but guess what. You can sleep on the floor so he did. So need less to say then at 6:00 i had to get up and get ready for work. I am tired today. The silly thing was that just that morning i was saying to Julie how it was nice that the boys were sleeping all night again! that will teach me to say anything

Sorry all it has been a while since I did a week in review it has been a long couple weeks. Basically our dog tried to eat a skunk and we had to move out of our house for a week. But we are moved back in now. I will try to do more week in review soon

This week on Monday I started my new job. It was great, it is a slow week though for some reason. I took a tour of the warehouse which is a refrigerator. I also found out that i have to work Saturday as it is inventory and everyone works. My parents also showed up on Wednesday night which was nice to see them for the evening. Also we have been working hard to get Julie’s grandparents house gutted everything we want to save we are!

That really is about it. There wasn’t much going on this week to blog about but ya know how life is, sometimes there is and sometimes there is not. See you all next week.

Wow the list of things that happened this week is chocked full. On Friday night the boys wanted to go to a High School football game. We went and watched and it was so fun. Next thing is we Finally got Julie’s grandma and grandpa out of their house. We moved them Saturday. It took a while but it was worth it. There was a safe under their floor boards and and they wernt going to take it with them so i grabed the saw and cut the floor out and took it. It was kinda like a real life Geocache. Thing is they arnt sure what the code is they know they have it somewhere but they arnt sure what it is or where it is. So i think i am going to take up safe cracking . On monday i woke up and jumped in the shower and there was no hot water. Not a drop. I knew this was strange as no one else was up so i knew that there was no one taking a shower and using up all the water. Come to find out the water heater pilot was out. luckly it was an easy fix. Then drove to work and i locked my keys in the car. luckly julie and kim and the boys could come over at lunch and we had McDonnalds and unlocked the car. On Tuesday Julie and i went to the doctor and got to hear the heart beat of our new baby. wow that is cool. Anyone that dosnt think life begins at conception should hear a heart beat. Really not much more happened. We scheduled a geocaching event and that should be fun. Today is the last day of my job here at Bosch. i am starting a new job on monday

This week is actually for two weeks. I forgot to post last week Sunday we went caching and hit 8 caches. On Tuesday the 1st Eli turned 2. Wednesday i planned for 4 caches but only found 1

This week it was nice to have Monday off work and we worked in the Garden. Then on Tuesday i found out that i got a new job. I will start a week from monday at the new job. it is a smaller helpdesk non of this huge call center stuff

We found our #400th geocache and also got a FTF on another one. Another notable thing is that we had planned to have julie’s grandparents out of their house by this weekend But things change and now we dont know when they will be out. It has been rainy this week soe we have not done much outside

This week’s week in review is interesting. Saturday we spent a day out with Thomas the Tank Engine with our boys. I think i liked it just as much as they did. We went to Flint Mi. Got to rid on Thomas and just spend the day doing all sorts of fun things.

Sunday we had a work day with the church to help move julie’s grandparents. We did lots of work and got lots of dirty.

Twitter was unblocked this week at work. well come to find out EVERYTHING was unblocked at work. For some reason the firewall blocker was down. However that didnt last too long as someone was made aware of it and today it was back online.

So after the big to do that was made about me taking Firefox off my work computer guess what a few days later it is now approved. i have to request it and the computer automatticly installs it but it still gets installed so guess what i have FireFox again!

Anyway that is my week in review. It was a good week and see you all next week

Ok so here we go for the second week in review. Wow this week was interesting to say the least.
It started with more moving.

We were packing on Sunday Julie’s grandma they are moving soon and we are helping them pack. They have a lot of stuff so it takes a long time to pack.

This week also brought lots of changes at wor. We found out that one of the people who was laid off a while ago is comming back. Which brought up the question who is leaving. We dont have that much work that we need another person. Come to find out another one of our people here is leaving. There own choice but they are leaving. More changes here at work. I was told i had to remove Firefox and only use IE6. IE 6 that is like going back to horse and buggy from cars. Come on now. Also twitter.com was blocked at work i mean i can find an alternitave site that pulls that information but still i dont want to.

The main thing this week that happend was yesterday Julie called me at work and said. “I need you to call me as soon as you can” So i did the natural thing and picked up the phone and called her and i heard her say “There are cats in our van” Now at this point i knew i left the windows up and the doors were shut so i was wondering how they got in there. So went on to say “They were in our engine and i turned the engine on. Come to find out there were three cats. First one that fell out only had a broken leg. Next one was dead and the final one was just fine. Julie felt so bad. So i went home after work and dug a hole for the dead one. Then we went to red lobster for dinner and and when we came back there were more cats on our drive way. Go away cats!

I have decided to start blogging a little bit. I am going to do a week in review post. These will be posted Friday nights at 8:00 PM so here we go witht he first post:

The following are things that happened this week (Saturday-Friday) On Saturday i gave blood this is the first time that i have given blood on the left arm and the first time i have done it in a while. Julie and i got busy and just havnt given in a while. And the first time in a while that Julie was not with me. She cant give for about 9 months or so now.

The next thing that happened this week was to do with twitter.com. Besides that fact that twitter was down all day on Thursday due to a DOS attack. Twitter was blocked here at work. I felt like i was cut off from the outside world. Dont worry i found some ways around it but still. it was just the idea of being cut off. (am i addicted?)

Next thing i realized this week is that some people just like to pick on people because they can. They go looking for things to hold against you just becasue they can.

Yesterday my wife and kids went to the county fair with my sister-in-law Mindy. See the fair is kinda a big thing around here. Infact so big is is the 2nd or 3rd largest county fairs in the USA. I like just watching people interact with other people however I realized while i was at the fair enjoying my Fair food and kiddy rides some new rules that need to be in place. If you go to the Elkhart county 4-H fair please follow the following rules

1. Remember you are not the only one walking. Dont just stop there are people walking behind you.
2. The walkways are not places for your friend reunion. If you must stop and talk to your friend you have not seen since last fair please find a nice spot in the picnic area to sit down. It makes catching up a whole lot more fun for all
3. If it is raining remember you have a 3 foot extension on the side of your head called an umbrella. Lets not poke peoples eyes out with it
4. Walk with the same rules that you drive with. Stay on the right side. If not i WILL run into you.
5. If you must stop to talk moove to the side of the road quickly and also turn around first to make sure there is no one right behind you.
6. If it is raining out dont stop just inside the barn and try and dry the rest of the way off while the rest of us and our kids are standing outside getting sick in the rain.

So the other day when out searching for geocaches. When I am driving i tell the GPSr to direct me to the cache via the roads. Then I get the oportunity to direct my GPSr how i want it to route, I choose either Shortest distance or Fastest route. This past trip out geocaching I decided that i would like to see another option. This one i would call Only threw Good Neighborhoods. I was going the quickest route to the cache but i also decided that it would only be the quickest if i would stay alive. I was going threw some shady neighborhoods. Garmin if your listening. I would love that option

We decided to do another cache run this year. We are doing our run tomorrow. It has been two summers since we did a run. we decided that it was far past time. So we decided to raid the same area again. Last time we went to Ft. Wayne Indiana an hit 52 caches. This time we are aiming for 75.

We have mad some change to help us accomplish our goal. This year we are pre-planning our route. From cache to cache to cache we know what is next. This took the most time last year. we have 88 caches in our route hopefully we can hit at least 75

We are starting our run at 7:30 and running late. we dont have an end time

Geocachers are normally nice people. That said we have seen a few bad apples in the bunch. Last night I got home and checked my email and saw that someone logged our Lets Go For a Walk Grandma as a DNF. There have been DNF’s on it over the last couple of months. Infact i was going to go out and check on it this week. When i looked at the log the person was very mean. “Its obivious it is gone. why hasnt this been disable to save peoples time from hunting something that isnt there” I shot an email back to them. This is becasue just becasue several people cant find it dosnt mean it isnt there and i was actually going to check on it this week. Then i also saw another log he posted on a cache of mine. He logged a micro that i have that is near a water way and kind of in the woods and it is a micro. He commented that there is no reason to put a micro in the woods especially when there is so much trash. You know what. The cache is a freaking fishing bobber so that was the perfect place for it. I dont like micro’s in the woods either but if they are warented then yes. I guess i am just venting. Please cachers be nice in your logs and the way you talk to other cachers. We are people too!

I have a Tracphone and last night i wondered if they had an email to SMS gateway. So lets say i sent and email to xxxxxxxxxx@tracphone.com i would get an sms on my phone. So i jumped on google and did a little search. what i found out was this. Tracfone outsources it network to other national providers. If you can figure out what provider yours is you can use their SMS gateway. However there is not a way to go to your phone and figure out what provider you use. However there is a way. What you will need to do is send an email to the following email addresses with your number before the @ sign

Google voice is awesome. I love what it can do for me they even transcript voicemails for me. however they sometimes dont do it correctly. below is one the transcribed not great, but it made for a good laugh. (NOTE: click picture for a bigger version)

Wow i just realized that it has been a while since i have blogged. There really hasnt been much that i have felt the need to blog about. Untill now!

A couple months back i put a job application in to a local company to be their network admin. Didnt think much would come of it. Infact some time passed and i even forgot that i sent the app in. Then I got an email from the owner of the company that i should call him about a job interview. I did right away.

He didnt answer my call so i left a message. Finally he called back and wanted to do an interview. So i took some time off of work went in and interviewed. I had a good feeling about it. Sort of like when i interviewd at Newmar.

A week or two went by and then they called me back. Wow i didnt think i would get a first call let alone a second call. I was excited. I started to really want to get out of my current job. I went to the second interview. I got to see their servers and all the cool stuff. The interview went well. I interviewed with the VP and one of the I.T. guys. When i left the VP said “just to let you know a job interview is about two things, skill and personality. I think your a great fit and are better than the other people. We still have interviews on thursday and friday.

So i go home get realy excited about it. I know the pay is better and it is close to home. I couldnt help but think about how great that would be. The job would be a lot of learning but it would be worth it and i could do it. I left feeling that the other two interviews were more of a formality and they would be contacting me soon to offer me the job.

Thursday and Friday go by so i know they have done the other interviews. A week goes by i havnt heard anything. On thursday i send the VP an email asking “just wondering the status of the job.” I hear nothing thursday or friday. I am starting to doubt but i know how long this process has taken and how sometimes they are not on the ball with things.

Monday rolls around and about 4:00PM i get an email that says call me on my cell phone after 5. My heart skips a beat or 3 and i email Julie and tell her. We are excited. I figure out how much i would need to have them offer me to be worth it. I get out of work and right away call him. Ring….Ring…Ring…VOICEMAIL. So i leave a message. I try a few other times on my way home. Same thing. I get home and i call him. Ring…Ring…Ring…VOICEMAIL. So i just wait. About 6:00 my phone rings. I jump up and run to the back room of our house so it is quiet and i say “Hello” and i hear “well we have good news and bad news” my heart sank. “We filled the position on Friday however in the process we realized that we need to add another person to our I.T. Staff. We dont expect you to wait on us. It will be sometime this summer when we create the position. And you will most likely be hearing from us this summer.”

I know i could have done that job. I know there is something out there better. But what? Why am i at the Job that i am at still. Dont get me wrong i am glad to have a job. Especially when a lot of people around here dont. God i know you know. El Roi

This past Saturday we went to the mall at Ft. Wayne. and we hit some caches on the way home. It also became so snowy we couldnt cache infact we saw a truck overturned but the following caches are the ones we hit.

Today we are giving blood. We like to give blood becasue i know if need some i would want to have some. So since i have extra might as well give mine. The cool thing is since julie and i do it togeather we have memories and it is almost like a date. If you have never given blood i would suggest you try. I do not like needles but this isnt that bad

Our family keeps getting sick. First started with eli then seems like we have all gotten sick. It stinks because it just drains you. you cant do much. I hope that we all feel better soon

Merry Christmas.
Wow it is Christmas already. It seems like just yesterday that we did this whole christmas thing. This year was great it is just cool to see my kids learn about Jesus and what Christmas means. It isnt good that so many people are out of jobs this year however maybe it will allow them to sitback this year and realize what Christmas is all about. It isnt about the cool new toys. It is about Jesus

It is funny when you get use to a GPSr it takes you a while to get use to a new one. I have been trying out the the Delorme PN-40 and while i do like most of the things on it there are some things that i dont like. I will talk about that on a future show of the geocaching podcast. It is strange to get use to a new gpsr company and the way they do things. I am a Garmin man threw and threw (as seen from the screenshot from my 76csx on the right). But it is fun to get use to the new things. On christmas we are going down to my parents place and then friday i have to come back and work and then drive down to there again. So i am going to try and take some time and cache also! we will see how that goes.

Today is my sons birthday. Happy 3rd birthday Micah. It has been a blast this year watching you grow and learn new things. You are such a smart kid. You are the joy of my life. Everytime i think about you and your brother i smile and am so glad that God has blessed your mom and i with you. You teach me what it means to have a child like faith. I love you.

Today we are giving blood. It is fun we get to save peoples life and have fun at it at the same time. If you have never given blood you should think about it. I didnt think i would like it becasuse i dont like needles but you know what i found out that i like giving blood.

So we were planing to go to my parents house this weekend for a weekend however julie said to me do you think that your parents would mind if i just stayed home and had a weekend to myself since i havnt had any time lately. So i said sure… so off the boys and i went.

We set off for their house about 10:15pm on friday. We got there and then saturday we hung out and did lots of fun stuff however Micah and my mom were going down the cable swing (kinda like a zip line) and they fell off. Luckly they were ok. But it scared micah a lot. Then later that night we noticed micah had a temp (took him to the dr today and it is just something going around) then sunday morning Eli snapped a mouse trap on his little fingers. They were ok but he cried a lot.

It was a good weekend. but it seemed like there was a lot that went wrong. Hopefully julie will let me take the boys again sometime!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is a day to remember what we are thankful for. Normally we think about a laundry list of things that we are thankful for and this is all good. But shouldnt we be thankful all the time. It is hard to live a life of thankfulness. Lots of bad things happen. However when you are thankfull all the time it makes your life easer and less stressful. It is funny to when you set down to think of the things that you are thankfull for you end up thinking of the little things. The other day i thought of things that i was thankfull for and thought about how i was thankful for smiles that julie and i exchange between each other.

This weekend the women of exodus community gave the message. I thought it went well. they did a great job. If you want to listen to it click here. After this the men of cooked a great breakfast. I love the community that we have at exodus. The great thing about being a smaller group is that we can be invested in others lives like we are.

Today i switched hours with a co worker and it was great. He needed to be off in the morning so i came in at the time he normally comes in at which is 9:00 Am it is great to be able to get off of work at 5:30 PM i wish i could do this every day. I will actually get to go to small group tonight. It is great. I pray for a day when i can have normal hours

Tomorrow i am working early because we are painting our house on Saturday. Well when i say our house i mean our living room and kitchen. Friday night we are going to move and tape all the stuff in the way of the walls. It will be fun. I need to change hours. I can not do this much longer. It is effecting our family Saturday we are painting the house which should be good. We needed to do this for a long time. Infact we have been meaning to do this since we moved in.

I was not nice to my wife this weekend. Not sure why …but got In arguments that didn’t even need to be had but got in them and still didn’t give up. I need to start thinking more about my wife’s feelings. Sorry Julie that I haven’t done that lately.
